A free musical performance and screening event

‘Der Student von Prag’ is a collaborative project involving over 25 international artists, the majority of whom are based in Glasgow, in response to a strong dissatisfaction with the supporting elements of the film's current available releases -primarily the musical score and intertitles. We began, as individual crows within a murder, to completely revise them both. Following the assignment of individual characters within the film to musical instruments and musicians the score was composed in cells then later as an orchestra. The synthesis of individual creativity in response to the film was fused into two back to back live performances taking place within the context of a purpose built cinema and designed set in the industrial cradle of The Now Museum, a reclaimed warehouse in the west of Glasgow.
